Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games Torch Relay

1012101010003Fearing that I would oversleep and miss the Torch Relay, I could not sleep well the night before 10 December 2010.  I woke up very early in the morning to get ready for the Relay.  I together with other three torch bearers who were all Paralympics gold medalists left the village at 7:30 a.m. and took the designated bus to Guangzhou Stadium in Bai Yuen Shan district.  The Torch Relay started at 9:00 a.m.  Many citizens were already waiting at the two sides of the street to watch the relay.  When our bus passed, we waved our hands to greet with them happily.

The most important moment came at 9:40 a.m.  Being on the wheelchair, I got off the bus on the No. 20 road mark, had my torch lighted by the previous one and started the 80-metres’ torch relay walk.  I was very excited as I was applauded by many persons on the street.  I got the feeling of being a superstar.  I waved with big smile.  With my happiest look, the episode was broadcasted over the TV.

It’s so nice that I could keep the beautify torch myself.  I liked the torch very much as it symbolized my persistent effort in striving for excellence and my brilliant achievements in the sport of table tennis.
