My Lonely New Road in 2009: Hungarian Open
2008 faded out. 2009 already started. I would start my lonely new road in the table tennis journey. It’s because Hong Kong’s association decided not to send any player for the pro tour table tennis tournaments in the first half year of 2009 so as to qualify for the World Championship. As I longed for participating the World Championship to be held in Korea. I chose to join these tournaments alone.
Hungarian Open was my first stop. Out of all our expectation, the tournament was fully joined by more than 300 players. Maybe all players were starving for competition. It’s a hard match for me. I finally only got a 4th position in single event.
Joining tournament alone was not an easy task. It’s sometimes embarrassed particularly when having meals singlely. During the closing ceremony, I myself occupied a large table. No other countries player joined me. Fortunately another Asian country – Korean players came with me at last. Thanks to Korean fellows. I hope I shall meet them again in 2010 World Championship.
